Let there be light!
Dark might be a very good description of the lighting situation in our building prior to renovation. But, we are making progress. And there is more to come.
And then there were two.
Our building starting with only one lavatory. We decided that two would be much more desireable by our guests. So, a little bit (or maybe a lot) of PVC and some creativity and out of one, there will two.
Great news…we have a signed lease! And now the REAL work begins!
We finally have a lease agreement signed by the owner of the building on Main Street that will become the home of The Core. With that important step finally behind us, the REAL work begins. The building will require substantial renovation to turn it into the Coffee House and Community Gathering Place that we have envisioned. Travis and Tucker Klaassen will be coordinating the effort to transform the building. And to allow as many as who desire to lend a hand, we will be having a series of Friday Work Days, at The Core for volunteers who would like to be a part of this effort. The work days will start on Friday July 10 at 9 am. Give either Travis (460-1968) or Tucker (460-0478) a call if you have any questions about how you might serve. And whether you can come and physically pitch in or not, please do the most important work of praying for The Core and its ministry to our community
At long last.
After several months of discussions and negotiations, we finally have a lease for the building that The Core will occupy. Needless to say, this is an important milestone that at times we thought we might never reach. But it is now behind us and within a matter of days, we should begin work on renovating the building to allow us to open the Coffee House and community gathering place.
While we still do not have an anticipated Grand Opening date, we are certainly one huge step closer to being able to say to our friends and neighbors, “welcome to The Core!”
Getting closer
We are still working with the building owner’s attorney on the lease. As is the case with any negotiation, it is back and forth, back and forth, and then back and forth a few more times. BUT, we are getting closer. Stay tuned. This IS going to happen.
