Welcome to The Core!

“Welcome to The Core!”  Those four words are rich with meaning for us right now.  You see, The Core is still our dream.  A vision that we have for something really special in our small Hill Country town.

So, at the very least, “Welcome to The Core!” says thanks for checking out this blog.  And “Welcome to The Core!” may be the four words we will train our volunteers to say when greeting a guest who enters The Core.

You see, we want The Core to be…

A place of community.

A comfortable place to come and enjoy beverages and snacks, or a light meal.
A place to gather as friends to study, write, read, relax or surf the net.
A place that is a constructive alternative to other places that the youth in our community “hang out.”
A place where mentoring relationships can be formed.
A place for visitors and tourists to refresh, relax, and enjoy the little town we call “home.”

A place where “purposeful” meetings can take place.

A place where people can concentrate on spiritual growth through the study and discussion of  God’s word.
A place where people can gather to focus on personal wholeness through encouragement, support, rehabilitation and recovery.
A place for youth groups to gather for fun and fellowship.
A place to gather for the corporate worship of God in an informal, relaxed and non-traditional setting.

Welcome to The Core!  Whether those exact words are literally spoken or not, we hope that our actions will clearly send that message.  Our desire is that everyone would feel “Welcomed to The Core.”

And The Core is something else as well.  Our Core speaks of what makes us who we are.  It’s our very essence.  Our Hearts, our Souls and our Minds, are our Core.  And it is at that level that we desire for people to be made whole.  And that goal can only be realized by the welcoming of the One who stands at the door and knocks.  If you’re not clear what that means, leave us a comment, and we will be happy to share what we know of the One who loves us to The Core and desires that we love Him back… from OUR Core.
