We are still working with the building owner’s attorney on the lease. As is the case with any negotiation, it is back and forth, back and forth, and then back and forth a few more times. BUT, we are getting closer. Stay tuned. This IS going to happen.
A successful event!
A Fundraiser for The Core
A community-wide fundraiser benefiting The Core will take place on Saturday, April 18 in front of The Core ‘storefront’ in downtown Medina. BBQ plates with all the trimmings (beans, potato salad, pickles, onions, etc.) will be prepared and sold for $5.00 per plate. This event will begin at 10:00 a.m. and carry on through lunch.

SPREAD THE WORD!
Well equiped
The Lord has been good to us. Through an interesting set of personal contacts, and timing that doubtlessly was beyond our control or persuasion, we have found a complete set of coffee house equipment for The Core and at a price at we can afford. Espresso machine, drip coffee maker, tea brewer, espresso and whole bean coffee grinders, refrigerated display case, point of sale system…it’s all here. And we have purchased it from a man who completely understands the mission of The Core, and is thrilled that this equipment will be used for such a purpose.
Needless to say, we are rejoicing at the Lord’s great provision.
Slow going.
We are still optimistic about our ability to lease the building for The Core, but the process has slowed considerably as the building owner has enlisted the assistance of her attorney. While we will be certain that all the “i’s” are dotted and “t’s” crossed through his involvement, it will doubtlessly be a more protracted process of coming to terms.
A special day at The Core
On Sunday, January 18, we made our plans known to the community. In a celebration that included lots of our fans and supporters, we officially announced that The Core Coffee House will soon be opening in Medina, Texas.
Welcome to The Core!
“Welcome to The Core!” Those four words are rich with meaning for us right now. You see, The Core is still our dream. A vision that we have for something really special in our small Hill Country town.
So, at the very least, “Welcome to The Core!” says thanks for checking out this blog. And “Welcome to The Core!” may be the four words we will train our volunteers to say when greeting a guest who enters The Core.
You see, we want The Core to be…
A place of community.
A comfortable place to come and enjoy beverages and snacks, or a light meal.
A place to gather as friends to study, write, read, relax or surf the net.
A place that is a constructive alternative to other places that the youth in our community “hang out.”
A place where mentoring relationships can be formed.
A place for visitors and tourists to refresh, relax, and enjoy the little town we call “home.”
A place where “purposeful” meetings can take place.
A place where people can concentrate on spiritual growth through the study and discussion of God’s word.
A place where people can gather to focus on personal wholeness through encouragement, support, rehabilitation and recovery.
A place for youth groups to gather for fun and fellowship.
A place to gather for the corporate worship of God in an informal, relaxed and non-traditional setting.
Welcome to The Core! Whether those exact words are literally spoken or not, we hope that our actions will clearly send that message. Our desire is that everyone would feel “Welcomed to The Core.”
And The Core is something else as well. Our Core speaks of what makes us who we are. It’s our very essence. Our Hearts, our Souls and our Minds, are our Core. And it is at that level that we desire for people to be made whole. And that goal can only be realized by the welcoming of the One who stands at the door and knocks. If you’re not clear what that means, leave us a comment, and we will be happy to share what we know of the One who loves us to The Core and desires that we love Him back… from OUR Core.
